Ronald G. Hodge

November 19, 2020 — November 20, 2020

Ronald Gareth Hodge, 92, of Cicero, NY passed away peacefully early Friday morning at 5:00 am on November the 20th at the Cottages in Cicero NY. Ronald was born in Canton, Ohio in 1928 to William and Ada Warren Hodge (deceased). He had three siblings, Robert Hodge (deceased), Carol Hodge (deceased), Donna Hodge Kubecka of Kirkville, NY.

He is survived by his current loving wife, Carol Hodge of Cicero, NY. They met at the North Syracuse Baptist Church in 2000 where he taught Sunday School for many years and served as a Deacon. They have been happily married for 19 years and en-joyed fellowshipping with their many family and friends. His first wife, Lorraine Wason Hodge, was his high school sweetheart. They had been married for 47 years when Lorraine passed away in 1993. They had four sons Ronald Curtis Hodge of Mechan-icsburg, PA, Craig William Hodge of Clay, NY, Graig Henry Hodge of Syracuse, NY and Thomas Scott Hodge of Seattle, WA.

Ronald lived a fruitful life. Like many of his time, he answered the call during WWII to serve in the United States Military as a paratrooper in the Army, entering service as the war was drawing to a close. After his service, he returned home to upstate NY where he apprenticed as a plumber, working with his father in law, Henry A. Wason. He soon formed his own small business called RGH plumbing in North Syracuse.

Ronald had a heart and desire for advancing the Kingdom of God. He and Lorraine founded the High Braes Refuge in Redfield, NY in 1974, providing a safe haven of hope, love, recreation and spiritual growth to hundreds of children and adults in the surrounding area and beyond. Ronald, with many volunteers, spent many years restor-ing and maintaining the original historical home, chapel, and campsites on the beauti-ful forested grounds.

Ronald had nine grandchildren: Matthew R. Hodge (deceased), Brian Hodge, Stephen Hodge, Benjamin Hodge, Kristyn Hewitt, Kari Barney, Matthew G. Hodge (deceased), Ian Hodge, Nathan Hodge and Alex Hodge. He had seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
