Ronald Gary Fontana, 65, of Fairmount, passed away Thursday at Strong Hospital with his wife and daughters by his side. Ron had a total artificial heart, the only one in this area and 1 of 1300 worldwide. He worked for Kelley Brothers Hardware for 45 years until his retirement. Ron loved to travel, go to the casino and cheer on his Orangemen; most of all he loved spending time with his 5 grandchildren whom he adored. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Marion and James Fontana and sisters, Carole, Connie and Sheila.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Toni; daughters, Renee (Peter) Theodore and Becki (Mike) Bourcy; 5 grandchildren, Nathan, Pierce, Griffin, Owen and Blake Scarlett; 3 brothers, James "Ronnie", Richard and Bernie; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse with a service to follow at 7PM. Donations may be made to Donate Life America at donatelife.net or to Harbor House of Rochester at harborhouseofrochester.org. A special thank you to the staff on 716 and 734 at Strong.
