Ronald "Beepa" Davern, 64 of E. Taft Rd, North Syracuse died Thursday at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse after a long illness. A native of Syracuse & a Marine Corps Veteran, Mr. Davern was a Police Officer with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department and the Town of Clay for many years. Mr. Davern coordinated SHAPE which stands for Sheriff Handicap Ambulatory Parking Enforcement of which he was a founding member. He received a heart transplant at Stanford University 16 years ago. He is predeceased by a brother Keith who died in 1992.
He is survived by a daughter Lory Cerio of North Syracuse, a son Michael of Cicero, 3 other sons, James & Christopher both of Canandaigua and Ronald of Albany, a brother Gerald of North Syracuse, a sister Patricia Tinch of Cicero and 13 Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 AM at the Believer's Chapel in Cicero. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-5 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse.
