Roma J. Towne passed away Thursday, July 28, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Salem, MA, she moved to Fayetteville and graduated from Fayetteville High School. She attended Syracuse University and received degrees in Education, Psychology and Sociology. While in college she taught at the Dunbar Nursery School. In 1951 she began teaching Special Education at Seymour School. She received many awards and plaques including Teacher of the Year before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Baptist Methodist Church in Baldwinsville. She volunteered at the Clothing Exchange and after she retired one of her hobbies was with show horses. She is predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Ruth Towne.
Roma is survived by her daughter Vanessa Minasian, her grandson, Anthony R. Minasian and her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Destiny and Anthony Jr.
Services will be held on Sunday at 4 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will be in Fayetteville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday from 1-4 PM at the funeral home, 705 North Main Street.
Contributions in Roma's name may be made to the James St. Dialysis Unit, c/o Frank or Sue O'Shea.
