Rolande A. Thornton
January 27, 1922 — January 6, 2020
Rolande A. Thornton, 97, of Syracuse, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6th.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Rolande was a hero to her family. She will be remembered for her cooking and her holidays. Rolande also enjoyed knitting and sewing but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred; daughter, Katherine; 3 brothers and a sister who resided in France.
Rolande is survived by her 3 sons, Alfred (Donna) Thornton, Jr., Danny (Jean) Thornton and Jacques (Nancy) Thornton; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren and countless extended family.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 10th 4-7pm at River Church, 750 James Street, Syracuse, NY. A short viewing will be held on Saturday at 10:30am before services at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to River Church.
