Rock J. Carbone

Rock J. Carbone, 92, of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday with family by his side. He was born on November 14, 1920 in Calabria, Italy son of Pasquale and Filomenia Carbone. He served in the US Army during WW II. After the service he became a professional photographer, owned his own studio and retired from Channel 9 News as the chief of photography.
He was a member of the Nedrow Rod & Gun Club, the NRA, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a professional singer. Rock spent part of his life in Chokoloskee, FL, where he fished everyday. He was predeceased by his daughter, Phyllis Bernet, 2 brothers, Vincent & Mario.
Surviving are his son, Rock J. (Debra), 2 daughters, Christine Raus, Lisa (Arthur) Kanerviko, 6 grandchildren, Rocco, Danielle, Rachele, Nolita, Zachariah & Makayla, 3 great grandchildren, Joseph, Eleanor & Meredith, along with his brother, Antony (Tamara) Carbone.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday 9am at St. Daniel's Church, Court St.
