Robert Bernard Wilson, 87 of Bridgeport, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Born on September 18, 1936 in Syracuse, NY to the late Flora (Ruscher) Wilson and adoptive father, Hank Wilson. Later found his biological father, Bernard Bray. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a government class A certified welder for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his loving family, sharing meals, laughing while making memories. He raised four children, was the best "Papa Bob" to eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren with the goal of being silly and playful. He loved telling jokes, sharing stories and scoring the best curbside treasures of the day.
Robert is survived by his children, Liberty Latzkowski, Anthony Wilson, Robert S. (Lori) Wilson and Robin (Jeffery) Brown; grandchildren, Kecia, Elizabeth, Carrie, David, Jeremy, Tonya, Alexys, Samantha, Kelsie, Ashley and Jennifer (mother-Peggy) Meleski (Wilson); fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Midge (Neal) Culver, Ward (Sandy) Bray, Judy Simmons and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his "bride", Alice Wilson of 52 years; siblings, Phyllis Buckley, Julia Lathrop, Nancy Bray, Bernard Bray and Joyce Baumheckel.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 4-7pm. Funeral service will follow at 7pm. Burial will take place on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Minoa, NY, 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crouse Auxiliary, Syracuse, NY.
