Robert D. Vincent, 83, of Brewerton, NY passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. He was born on August 28, 1937 in Newport, VT, son of Roland J. and Eleanor (Elie) Vincent and grew up in Essex Center, VT. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1955. As a member of the Vermont National Guard his unit was activated during the Berlin Crisis of 1961-62. He graduated from the Vermont Military Academy as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Vermont National Guard in 1963, beginning his lengthy military career from which he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the New York Army National Reserve in 1990. Robert also spent many years as a manufacturer's representative for companies including P. Lorillard Tobacco, Lever Brothers, Van Heusen and various other menswear companies. Robert was a member of Sacred Heart Church and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Upon retirement, Bob cherished spending his time with his family, hiking along the lake with his dog, cooking his world famous "Dad Vincent's #10 Chili, and birdwatching. He was a quiet, gentle man who loved and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Cheryl (Egloff) (Conroy) Vincent, children, Scott (Valorie) Vincent of California, Eric Vincent of New Jersey, Lisa (Michael) Sculley of Baldwinsville, stepchildren, Christine (Fred) Kowanes of North Syracuse, Robert Conroy of Liverpool, Bethanne Conroy of Liverpool, grandchildren, Victoria, Alec, Mark, John, Leah, Hannah, Benjamin, Emma, great grandchild, Olivia, sisters-in-law, Cylene Vincent of North Carolina and Janice DiFant of North Syracuse, brother-in-law, Richard Egloff of Liverpool, Aunts Rita Elie (Jim) Bixby and Jeanne Elie (Bob) Boudah of Vermont and former wife Linda Doll Black of DeWitt. Predeceased by his parents Roland J. and Eleanor (Elie) Vincent, brother, Larry Vincent and Aunt Doris Elie Preston.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18 from 4-7pm and funeral on Friday, March 19 at 10am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse.
A private graveside burial will take place with full military honors at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
