Robert A. Sparrow of East Syracuse, NY died in his sleep at home on November 11, 2022 (Veteran's Day). Bob was predeceased by his daughter Laurie McGraw, his parents, Robert and Emily Sparrow, sisters, Nancy Shephard and Roberta Ransom, brother, Charlie Sparrow, his in-laws, Francis G. and Alice O'Connor, and brothers-in-law, Francis R. O'Connor, and Armand C. Schultz. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (O'Connor), his children Deborah (Mike) Anguish, Robert L. (Mishelle) Sparrow, Andrew (Monica) Sparrow, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Joan Schultz, Anne O'Connor, and Diane (Barb) O'Connor as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Rochester, New York in 1936. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War (1953), Bob was honorably discharged in 1957. He married the love of his life, Carol Ann in 1959. They raised their four children in the towns of Jamesville and Manlius and camped for many Summers at Kring Point State Park. Bob was an avid sportsman; he enjoyed softball, bowling (he appeared on 'Bowling for Dollars') and golf (he belonged to the Orchard Valley Men's Golf League). He was a Little League and Pop Warner coach for many years. Bob was a mechanic at Miller Brewery (Fulton), retiring in 1994. Following their retirement, Bob and Carol Ann spent several Winters in Myrtle Beach and Cape Coral near close friends.
The family is forever grateful to Lori & the Nascienta Health Organization and Katrina & the Hospice of CNY and Hospice of the Finger Lakes team for their compassionate care and support.
Services will be held privately.
