Robert L. Schlachter Sr.
February 17, 1947 — November 28, 2022
Robert Schlachter, 75, passed away on Nov 28, 2022. He was born on February 17, 1947 in Syracuse New York and grew up on his family farm in Bridgeport New York. Robert went to high school at Christian Brothers Academy. He then attended Hobart College where he received a Bachelor's of Art and continued his education at Syracuse University where he obtained a Masters of Social Work.
Robert worked for many years as a Certified Alcohol Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for Hillbrook, USPS, and Fort Drum until he entered into private practice, in which he worked for the past 20 years helping many people with addiction and recovery.
Robert's favorite pastime was watching his children play sports, especially soccer. Robert also enjoyed coaching his children when they were younger. He enjoyed fishing, taking trips with his family, spending time with his dogs Tucker and Bentley and enjoying the outdoors, as well as playing softball, and golfing.
Robert is predeceased by his father Walter, mother Mary, his sister Suzanne, and his nephew Mike.
Robert is survived by his wife Cindy, and their 4 children - Zachary, Luke, Leah and Ryan; as well as his two children from his first marriage, Kimberly and Robert, and his granddaughter Kelsey.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Monday, December 5th, 2022 from 4-7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Phoenix, NY on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at 10am. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for a scholarship to be made in memory of Robert L. Schlachter to the Phoenix Firebird Sports Booster Club, Attn: Athletic Director, 552 Main Street, Phoenix, NY 13135.
