Robert E. Provo

Robert (Bob) E. Provo, 87, passed away at home on Feb. 21, 2020. Born April 6, 1932, he was the son of Robert J. and Mabel F. (Farnell) Provo. He graduated from North Syracuse High School and Morrisville Ag & Tech. Bob served with the US Army in Korea from 1952-1954 with the 89th Tank Battalion.
He started his career with ACME Markets and was employed by S.M. Flickinger Co. in Syracuse for 26 years. He retired in 1994 as a Produce Buyer. Bob also worked with Syracuse Banana for 15 years after his retirement. He was an avid dog lover – especially German Shepherds and a WW1 history buff.
He was predeceased by his sister Jeanne (Jack) Honan of Syracuse and a daughter, Theresa (John) Foth of Pittsburgh, PA.
He is survived by four daughters; Lisa Vacarr of Bernhards Bay, Sue Provo of Colorado Springs, CO, Michelle (George) Brown of Pulaski, NY and Elizabeth Provo-Hanlen of Basalt, CO., a son John (Michele) Provo, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
As per Mr. Provo's request, services will be private, and a celebration of life will be held on Tuesday March 10th from 5pm -8pm at The Town Tavern, 2119 Brewerton Road in Mattydale.
No flowers please, but donations can be made to www.helpinghoundsdogrescue.org in his name.
Bob will be laid to rest at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Howlett Hill.
