Robert Lewis Huntley

Robert Lewis Huntley, 69, passed away in his sleep at home. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, he was born and raised in Minoa, NY. Robert "Bob" spent his retiring years in Sumterville, Florida.
Robert was born on March 15, 1940 to the late Earl and Frances Huntley. He graduated in 1958 from Minoa High and he was employed by the railroad for 39 years until his retirement. He was a past firefighter for the Minoa Fire Department, and once an avid Mixed League bowler at Erie Blvd. Lanes in Syracuse. At St. Lawrence Parish in Bushnell, Florida, he was an active member of the Golden Agers and was an Angel Food volunteer.
Robert was well loved by all. He enjoyed playing cards, the Casino, crossword puzzles, old movies, working on countless little projects at home, helping others, visiting friends and spending time with his grandchildren. Robert also enjoyed rooting for SU sports and the NY Yankees. His day was not complete without his bowl of Homestyle popcorn and the newspaper.
Robert was predeceased by his brother, Fred Huntley in 2004 and his sister Eleanor Hess in 2008.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Marie; three daughters, Michelle (Earl) Rudy, Vicki (Brian) Powell, and Pamela (Garry) Schwartz; his brother Earl Huntley; sister, Janet VanMarter; ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday, 10 AM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Burial will follow in the North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Monday from 4-7 PM, at the funeral home.
