Robert L. Abel, 71, of Central Square, passed away on Tuesday at the VA Medical Center, Syracuse. He was born on July 3, 1942 in Lowville the son of Leonard Robert and Irene Abel. He served in the US Marine Corps. during Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Central Square Vol. Fire Dept. and a life member of the VFW. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen and his daughter, Sandra.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Ann Abel, sisters: Helen Webb & Sally Gagnon, 4 grandchildren, step-son, Steven Heinrich, along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Services will be held on Monday 10am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Central Square.
Contributions may be made to the Central Square Vol. Fire Dept.
