Robert J. Harrington, Jr.
October 7, 2006
On Saturday, October 7th, 2006 my dear brother passed away while in the secure and compassionate care of his family. In late July Bob was diagnosed with cancer and had a little over 2 months in which to share time and emotions with those closest to him. His three children Stephanie, Ryan and Alison were his greatest source of pride and he loved them completely. He is survived by them, close and extended family, and many friends.
Bob was a US Air Force veteran serving in the Middle East during the Vietnam War. He was retired from US Airways after 28 years of service, was a member of the Machinists Union and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In honor of his service to his country, Bob will rest in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Bob's life was defined not only by family and work, but also by his creative talents. He was a true artisan, and as a painter, photographer and woodworker had the ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. We are fortunate that he was able to leave many tangible reminders of his time with us.
Although Bob wanted no part in the traditional end of life rituals, I cannot let him go without acknowledging his life and his passing from life. He was a gentle, intelligent, gifted man and I will miss him with all my heart.
