Robert F. Stanton III, 74, of Bridgeport, (formerly of Pennellville), passed away Tuesday. Born in Syracuse, he served in the Korean Conflict as an Air Force Medic. Bob served as a life member of the Civil Air Patrol, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was employed by Roth Smelting in the 1960's and from 1968-1993 at Syracuse Developmental Center, at TriState Auto Auction/Adesa Syracuse from 1999 – 2010.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert F. Stanton IV, in 1978.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia A. (Payne) Stanton; son, Scott M. (Lisa Frola) Smith; and a grand daughter, Elayne B. (James) Ongtingco; great grandchildren, Maggi and Maxwell Ongtingco; his uncle, William Stanton and cousin Valerie (Thomas) Maring; Donovan, Dante and Ariana Kurtz; former daughter in law, Ann Mierzwa Clark.
Services will be Saturday, 11AM at New Comer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7PM, at the funeral home.
