Robert C. "Scotty" Hunter, 84, of Syracuse passed away Saturday at the Veterans Home in Oxford, NY. He was born in Old Cumnock, Scotland. Robert was an Army veteran of WWII, receiving the Purple Heart and Conspicuous Service Cross from the state of New York. Robert was employed by the U.S. Department of Defense for 42 years and very active with their SCORE program. He is predeceased by his wife Nellie R. and a son, Robert C. Jr.
He is survived by three sons; Gene of Minoa, Richard of Miami, FL, and Jeffrey of Syracuse, one daughter; Shelly (Ian) Campbell of Madison CT, a brother Alex; two sisters, Martha and Janet; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 AM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will be in the Onondaga Co. Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 705 North Main Street.
