Richard "Dick" Yackel Sr., 86, of Syracuse passed away on Wednesday. A lifelong resident of the Valley, he retired with 47 years of service from Tompkins Bros. He was predeceased by a sister and a brother. He is survived by Vera, his wife of 66 years, children Richard Jr., Lin, and Kurt (Joan) Yackel, and Jill (Eva) Stahl, brothers Clifford, Jack, Paul, Harold, Ken, and Bob, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and two dogs, Zena and "The Little One".
Dick enjoyed bowling, fishing, SU basketball and the New York Yankees.
Friends are invited to join Dick's family in a celebration of his life on Saturday, December 27th from noon to 3pm at Smorol's Restaurant, 929 Avery Ave. Syracuse.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Iroquois Nursing Home Activities Fund.
