Richard Jay Weeks

February 25, 1928 — March 20, 2019

Richard Jay Weeks, 91, passed away on March 20, 2019 at The Cottages at Garden Grove with family at his side.

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, he was the son of John P. and Katharine (Dorhman) Weeks. Richard was the loving husband of Evelyn (Gallittu) Weeks of Liverpool, New York.
Surviving in addition to his wife Evelyn, is his daughter, Kathleen Weeks Ticco, Buffalo, NY; his 2 sons, Jack Weeks (John Hindman) Bethlehem, PA and Edward Weeks (Suzanne) Syracuse, NY; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

After serving in the Navy, Richard began a long career working for Burroughs Corp. until 1986. He then continued in the same field at CIS, Syracuse. Richard also worked for Sears Service until 2008 when he finally decided it was time to retire. Even though he was no longer in the work force, he sought projects to keep busy. While his hobbies included playing golf and watching sports, he loved building dollhouses, toys and furniture in his woodworking shop for his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Richard took great pleasure in lending a helping hand to his family and friends, especially when he could repair or build projects.

Mr. Weeks was active in the Boys Scouts of America when he lived in Kenmore, NY and attending a National Jamboree at Valley Forge was a highlight for him. At age 90 he enjoyed showing a slideshow and sharing those memories with friends and staff at St. Camillus Day Care Program.

A memorial service will be held by his family at a later date.
