Richard S. Petta, Sr.

March 24, 1946 — December 19, 2011

Richard S. Petta, Sr., 65, of Liverpool, New York died peacefully Monday, December 19, 2011 at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, New York. A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, he was the son of the late, Joseph and Jane Petta.

Richard was a decorated US Army Vietnam combat veteran, He provided military honors for fallen veterans as a bugler performing TAPS.

An avid custom car and muscle car collector, Richard had many interests. He possessed a wry sense of humor which endeared him to friends and family. Richard had a wide range of employment, from machinist to car sales.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, the former Johanna "Tish" Gallagher; brothers, David (Lynne) and Patric (Patricia) Petta; sister, Elizabeth D'Antuono and JoAnn (Jerry) Beck; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 9 AM on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse, New York.
