Richard "Dick" Peters, 44 of Fayetteville passed away at home on Friday, April 28 after a courageous, four year battle with brain cancer. Richard was a Liverpool resident from the time he was a child until moving to Fayetteville with his wife in 1987. Dick worked in the tire business for several years at Kelly Springfield, R/S and Dunn Tire. In more recent years, he was employed by Owl Wire & Cable. Dick was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fayetteville. He lived his life with honesty, dignity and respect. He always put the needs of others first and never questioned "why me" through his struggle with cancer. Dick was a wonderful, dedicated, loving husband and father. Richard was predeceased by his father; Richard Peters (1968), mother; Laura Peters Herman (1990), step father; Lawrence Herman (1997) and his brother; Jeffrey Peters (1967).
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Patricia Dougherty Peters, two daughters; Jessica Erin (16) and Kacey Pauline (9), Charles & Nancy "Mom" Lentz, Kelly Dougherty, Kathy (Eric) Dougherty Heil and their children, Andrew and Elizabeth, William and Patricia Dougherty, a sister; Laurie (Michael) Johnson and their children, Nicole, Robert & Eric, six step/half sisters and brothers; Colleen, Debbie, Mark, Larry, Joe, Kevin and their families, several aunts, uncles and cousins and close friends, Tina Wagner, Philip Kemper, Teresa DeForge, the Eberst, Rudd and DeParde families.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 10 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Rte 92, Fayetteville.
