Richard P. Merrow
January 18, 2014
No sadness, no sorrow, no tears, for Richard Pattison Merrow, friend, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, has embarked on a journey to visit family and friends long passed. Though he professed himself to be the curmudgeon's curmudgeon, secretly we all knew and loved the softhearted man that hid behind. US Army, Tokyo Arsenal, CIA, Formosa, Syracuse University, Manlius PD, Friday night poker: his life was well travelled and each day was well lived. My car radio will always be tuned in when a Yankees game is on, and we'll still listen together.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either St Jude's Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project. There will be no services, at his insistence. Instead, please honor him by spending the day with those you care about. Laugh a bit, read the newspaper, take a moment to appreciate the little things around you, and always, always remember to cheer for the Orangemen!
