Richard G. "Dick" Howard, 74, of Mattydale, New York died unexpectedly on Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, New York.
A truck driver, Dick retired from Scholastic Book Fair. He was a member of the Liverpool Elks BPOE #2348 and an honorary member of the Teamsters Union.
He was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Schafransky.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former MaryAnn Schafransky; son, Richard (Betsy Binion) Howard of Mattydale, New York; daughter, Dawn Howard of Canastota, New York; sister, Jeannette White of Mattydale, New York; sister-in-law, Trudy (Gene) Longale of Liverpool, New York; grandchildren, Matthew Turner, Tracy Turner and Guy Howard; a great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 AM on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at New Comer Funeral Home, North Syracuse, New York. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse, New York. Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the funeral home, 705 North Main Street.
