Richard "Dick" K. Ames, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, at age 90, in Boca Raton, FL. Dick spent the past two years of his life in the loving care of his daughter, Melissa Ames, in Florida.
Dick was born on January 27, 1932, residing in Port Byron, NY with his parents and brother. After graduating from Port Byron High School. he entered the Air Force and was deployed to Kimpo AFB, Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and moved to Auburn, NY were he met and married Elizabeth (Beth) Spoon Ames. They moved to North Syracuse were they enjoyed 39 years of marriage prior to her passing in 1996.
Dick worked at various businesses before his final career stop, Pepsi Cola manufacturer, Clinton's Ditch Coop Co. Inc.. He enjoyed his job and the many friends he had made at the "Ditch". He retired from management after 25 years and remained in close contact with many of them.
Dick was an avid golfer, played in several leagues around the area, and had belonged to Greenview CC, and most recently to Northern Pines Golf Club, where in his retirement he played almost daily with his good friends and the Northern Pines Golf League.
Dick was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4823 in Warsaw, NY and the American Legion Post 787 in Cicero, NY.
He was a loyal friend, and loved by many for his great sense of humor, easy going demeaner and life of the party personality. He will be missed.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Beth) Spoon Ames, his parents Allen & Maude Ames, and brother John Ames. Dick is survived by his daughter Melissa Ames of Boca Raton, FL, nephews, Greg & Richard Ames, Charlie, Robert & Gary Spoon, niece, Laureen Ames Fabiilli, goddaughter Victoria Usherwood Gailinas, and many other dear friends.
Calling hours are Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 11am to 1pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 North Main St,. N. Syracuse, where his service will follow at 1pm.
