Richard J. "Dick" Davis, 75, of Clay passed away on Monday surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Dick retired from the Syracuse Fire Department in 1998 after serving 28 years. He was awarded the medal of valor in 1980. He also drove school bus for 25 years for Liverpool and North Syracuse school districts. Dick had a passion for hunting and fishing, but mostly a love for sports. He served in the Sea Bees for two years. He was stationed in Puerto Rico and later deployed in Davisville, R.I.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Loretta Davis, and one brother, Donald.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Wilma Jean; children, Patrick and Dawn (Edward Poirier); three sisters, Marge Humphrey, Joan LeBlanc, and Marilyn Alt; brother-in-law, James (Nancy) Denny; sister-in-law, Audrey Denny; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral ceremony with military honors will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
