Richard Christiansen IV, known as Rick, Ricky, or Rich, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2023, in Syracuse, NY, at the age of 33. Rick was born on August 10, 1989, in Syracuse, NY, to his loving parents, Carol Christiansen (Meech) and Richard Christiansen III. He will be deeply missed by his partner and fiancé of 14 years, Lindsey Mooney, and their children, Annabelle and Leon Christiansen.
Rick was a person full of love and laughter. He had a contagious positive energy and brought lightness to every room he entered. He was known for his devilish smile, his ability to crack inappropriate jokes at family functions (much to his mother's dismay, but his siblings' absolute joy), and his keen sense of humor. Rick cherished his family and loved ones deeply and was a proud father. His world revolved around loving and caring for Annabelle and Leon.
Professionally, Rick's passion and life's work was being a barber. He had an incredible gift for making his customers feel comfortable in his chair and leaving them feeling great about themselves. He had a special ability to make strangers laugh and brighten their day.
In his free time, Rick enjoyed being an avid Giants fan and spending quality time gaming with his daughter, Annabelle and his brothers. He also had a love for Star Wars, which he passed down to his son, Leon. Rick looked forward to the annual camping trips with his family and was excited about his upcoming trip next year to Tornado Alley with his mother and brother, Jeremy.
Rick will be deeply missed by his siblings Brandi Doyle (Len Rao), Joe Christiansen, Jeremy Christiansen (Kylie), and Andrew Christiansen; along with his very loved nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and future mother in law Lisa Oaster.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret L. Meech, grandfather, John A. Meech Jr, and grandfather, Richard M. Christiansen II.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral services, which will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Tuesday, August 1st. Calling hours will be from 5-7 pm, followed by a Sharing of Memories from 7-8 pm. In honor of Rick's favorite color, we kindly request that attendees wear any item that is red to the service.
