Richard B. Brainard, 85, of Liverpool died Friday at James Square Nursing Home. Born in Walton, NY, Richard was employed with Oberdofer Foundry for 40 years before retiring in 1985. He married his high school sweetheart, Norma Brooks, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage until she passed in 1987. He is also predeceased by a daughter, Nancy-Beth who died in 1945. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, a 15 year member of the Moose Club and he was an avid New York Yankees Fan.
He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Ward, four grandchildren; Richard Coyne, Betsy Pierik, Carrie (Dave) Kreis and Nancy (Jim) Cymbryla, nine great grandchildren; Melissa Homer, Jessica Pierik, Tanya Pierik, Ashlee Coyne, Joe Popcun, Rebecca Sobolewski, Jack Cymbryla, Nancy Kreis and Nick Kreis.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 7 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will be private. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 705 North Main St.
