Richard B. Charland, 69, of North Syracuse died on Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Saranac Lake, NY Richard has resided in the North Syracuse area for the past 40 years. Mr. Charland worked as a Chief Engineer for Borden Ice Cream for 38 years before his retirement in 1996. He also worked for Schalko Properties for 7 years. He was a member of the South Shore Rod & Gun Club and of the Turtles Club. Mr. Charland is predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Lee Stone who died in 1989.
Survivors include his wife Barbara (Collins), a son; Paul of Cicero, two daughters; Cynthia (Tim) Jones and their children Jamie and Stephanie of Clay and Melinda (David) Hoover and their children Katie Ann & David Jr. of Oklahoma, a great granddaughter, Jillian Marie Jones, special friends; David & Diane Stone of Cicero & Kelly Clark of Central Square, a brother; Charles Charland of Cicero and a sister; Helen Soucia of Tully.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 AM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Dewitt. Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse.
