Renate B. Foisy

Renate B. Foisy, 77, of North Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at her home surrounded with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Renate was born in Dusseldorg, Germany on March 17, 1947 daughter of the late Carl Heinz and Ruth Balck.

She fled Germany in 1956 settling in Connecticut. She attended Bay Path College and then transferred to Western New England College. While attending she met the love of her life, Larry Foisy. After marrying in 1971 they resided in North Syracuse where they spent 52 blissful years of marriage. Renate was a wonderful wife and mother to her family and was always there when needed most. She will be remembered for her kind heart, amazing laugh, feisty spirit and unwavering love for her family and friends. She also enjoyed arts and crafts making homemade gifts of love for everyone. Renate retired from Roxboro Middle School in Mattydale and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church.

Renate was predeceased by her identical twin-sister, Astrid, son-in-law, Timothy Hiltz, and sister-in-law, Susan Ayres.

She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Foisy; two daughters, Michelle (Michael) Easley, Alisha (Timothy) Dunlavey; five grandchildren, Sean, Colt, Avril, Kaylee, Trent; sister, Ingrid (David) O'Donnell; brother, Dieter (Janice) Balck, and brother-in-law, Richard Rogala.

Visitation will be held from on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 5-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 am on Friday, May 24, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will follow at North Syracuse Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Rose of Lima or to the local SPCA.
