Rebecca Baxter Turner, born April 21, 1951 to Charles and Jacqueline Baxter, has passed away. She grew up an only child living in Cicero, NY until December 19, 1962 when the family moved to Mexico, NY. Rebecca was a graduate of Mexico Academy Central School in 1969. She worked at Fay's Drugs from Oct. 69 -Jan 71 in Mattydale. Rebecca married Thomas M. Turner Sr. January 1971 and began a career as an army wife. They lived in 6 six states and a year in Germany and traveled all over. They moved 26 times from 1971 - 2000; had two children, Thomas Jr in May 1973 and daughter, Tracey Dec 1974, born with special needs. Rebecca worked in several schools as a call in teacher's aide for special needs classes. In 1990, she began a wonderful job with DPAO in Watertown, NY, working with, caring for, and taking for activities, special needs individuals. She made many lifelong friends. In her later years she became a caregiver for her mother and was always a caregiver for Tracey. Thomas Sr. passed away in 1984. A marriage after, ended in divorce. The highlight in her life was her grandson, Thomas Turner III, whom she loved very much. She had many lifelong friends from all over the country.
Survived by children, grandson, best friends and special bonus family, Rob, Nicole Seely and children.
She enjoyed making fleece throws for friends, over 400 and gave them all away. She loved going to the state fair and concerts. Rebecca met and saw many celebrities and she loved all of her pets through the years. She traveled to many places, Disney World, Disneyland, Stone Mountain Georgia, Massachusetts, Vermont and Connecticut.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11am in Pine Plains Cemetery, 8686 Henry Clay Blvd, Clay, NY 13041.
