Raymond S. Merriett, Jr., 91, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday at the VA Hospital. He was born on September 24, 1922, son of the late Raymond, Sr. and Mary Merriett. Raymond served in the US Marines Corps. during WW II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award and the Gold Star. He drove truck for many years last working at Andy's Produce. Raymond was predeceased by his son, William and his 2 brothers: William & Ned and his sister, Joan Merriett.
Surviving are his beloved wife Lois, of 61 years, 2 sons: Raymond (Cathy) Merriett, Robert Merriett, 3 daughters: Joan T. (james) Tucker, Kathleen (Michael) Yeldon, Caroline (John) Mertens, 11 grandchildren: Thomas, Melissa, Amanda, Jennifer, David, Nicole, Robert, Danielle, Marisa, Rachel & Kara, 6 great grandchildren: Jordan, Nicholas, Damian, Abigail, Layla & Samara, his sister, Mary Kalska, along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-4pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A funeral mass will be held on Monday 10am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Onondaga Veteran's Cemetery.
