Raymond T. Henry

Raymond T. Henry, 88, passed away December 20, 2017 at Iroquois Nursing Home, where he was undergoing physical therapy after a short hospital stay. A lifelong resident, Ray was born in Syracuse on May 31,1929 to the late Carl and Florence Henry.

Always a sports fan, Ray was an energetic participant as a youth, and enjoyed following professional and college football and basketball throughout his life. He was an avid Orange fan.

Ray served in the US Army after high school, and retired from the USPS after 30 years of service. He owned and operated Mahley's Tavern in "Skunk City", on the west side of town, for many years along with his wife, Mary. Together they developed many lasting friendships throughout the area.

Ray will be remembered for his generosity, and for his love of life and merriment.

He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart, wife, business partner, and eternal companion, Mary Lojewski Henry.

He is survived by two sons, David (Patricia) Henry and Patrick (Cynthia) Henry.

Visitation will take place Friday, 4-7 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse.
There will be no service. Entombment at St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt will take place Tuesday at 10 AM.

Memorial contributions may be made to The American Legion Post #1604, Burnet Ave. in Syracuse.
