Raymond C. Lormand, 72, of Syracuse died Wednesday at University Hospital folloing a long illness. Ray retired from the Syracuse Post Standard in 2009 following 20 years of service as a dock supervisor. He was an avid Harness Racing fan and enjoyed visiting Vernon Downs. Raymond was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lormand and two grandsons, Craig and Barry Reed.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Barbara Mantor; sons, Patrick and David (Jennifer) Lormand, both of Syracuse; a daughter, Roxanne (Walter) Reed of Mattydale; brothers, Richard of El Paso, TX, Joseph of Pompey and Michael Lormand of Syracuse; sisters, Rosilynne Bezner of Central Square and Joan Barcomb of Syracuse; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 3 PM New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. Burial will be private. Calling hours will Monday from 2-3 PM at the funeral home, 705 N. Main St.
