Ralph Harry Grimshaw, 91, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away April 10, 2024. Ralph was born in Liverpool, New York on October 10, 1932, to Ralph L. and Alice E. Grimshaw.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Joanne Grimshaw, his mother, Alice E. Grimshaw, his father Ralph L. Grimshaw, and brother Gene Grimshaw.
He is survived by four children. His son, Mathew (Robin) Grimshaw of Alpine Lake, WV and three daughters, Martha (Steven) Killian of Bradenton, FL, Patricia Killian (Joel Hall) of Newport Richey, FL, Lori (Joseph) Verzillo of Warners, NY. There are eight grandchildren as follows: Meagan (Emily) Killian-Randall, James (Amanda) Killian Jr., Sydney Killian, Samantha Killian, Ryan Verzillo, Reece Grimshaw, Kathryn Verzillo and Andrew Grimshaw. There are five great grandsons, Hunter Killian, Gavin Lane, Steven Killian, Joseph Killian and Austin Lane.
Ralph graduated in 1950 from Baldwinsville Academy and Central School in Baldwinsville, NY. Following graduation, he began his career in the U.S. Air Force where he found his passion for airplanes and flying. For the next 42 years he made a life, and adventure of flying airplanes. In 1991 he retired from United Technologies Corporation. He continued flying for the next 11 years for other companies. On May 2, 2002, as Aircraft Commander he completed his final flight in Lear Jet N393CF. He continued his professional bond through his lifetime membership in the Order of the Quiet Birdmen (QB).
As a devoted husband and father, he took great pride in his family, his work, and cherished friendships. In his free time, he enjoyed family time, traveling, playing cards, golfing, camping and his adored dogs.
Family and friends may call at the New Comer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, Syracuse, on Tuesday, April 23 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, and the funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 11:00am.
