Rachel Q. Perkins

December 14, 1932 — February 19, 2021

Rachel Q Perkins, 88, of Tully NY, passed away on February 19, 2021. Rachel was born in Mt Kisco, NY in 1932 and has lived in Tully since 1972.

Rachel grew up in Chappaqua and then moved to Copake NY and attended the Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie; it was there that she met her husband of 65 years, Dick Perkins. Rachel attended Colby College in Maine and married Dick in 1954.

Rachel and Dick took the family on many adventures and created a lifetime of incredible memories. They moved the family from Eastwood to Otisco into an abandoned ski lodge with three walls and a leaky roof at the old Little Tuck ski hill (which they converted into a beautiful home) and took the family to Poitiers, France for a year. The family continues the traditions the pair started, including annual trips to Tuckerman Ravine and paddling the Oswegatchie River. Rachel took an active role sharing her faith with children through Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was a Scout leader, and long-time driver for Meals on Wheels. She and Dick raised Scotch Highland cattle and other sundry livestock.

Rachel is predeceased by her husband Richard W Perkins Jr, parents Sidney Quinby and Virginia Page Quinby, and brother James Quinby.

Left to cherish her memory are sister Robin Rozines and brother Chris Quinby; children Jeff (Peggy), Tim (Kathy), Dave (Deb), and Gini; and
10 grandchildren and 8 great-
grandchildren who affectionately knew her as "Minie".

Services will be held at a future date. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice of CNY in her memory.
