Philip F. Tarquinio Jr.

1937 — 2025

Philip F. Tarquinio Jr., a dedicated bus driver, loving family man, and proud veteran, passed away on April 20, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on November 5, 1937, Phil lived a life filled with service, laughter, and a deep commitment to those he loved.

For over 40 years, Phil worked as a bus driver for Centro, where his commitment to safety earned him several awards. His passion for his work was evident as he participated in the annual bus drivers rodeo, showcasing his skills and dedication to his craft. Phil’s friendly demeanor and outgoing personality made him well-known and beloved in his community; he seemed to know everyone wherever he went. He was a generous soul, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer support to those in need.

Phil proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, where he not only fulfilled his duty to his country but also had the remarkable opportunity to meet President John F. Kennedy while working on a detail at the East Coast Memorial. This experience was a testament to the many ways Phil made a mark in the world.

In addition to his commitment to work and service, Phil cherished his family above all else. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be remembered by all who knew him. Phil had a zest for life, enjoying hobbies such as golf—where he took great pride in achieving a "Hole in One"—bowling, playing poker, and horse racing. He even took joy in umpiring softball games, reflecting his love for sports and community engagement.

Philip F. Tarquinio Jr. is survived by his son, Philip A. Tarquinio; daughter, Phyllis (Gordon) Lawrence; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and his brother Gene Tarquinio.

He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip F. Tarquinio, Sr.; mother, Marian Tarquinio; and twin brother, Perry Tarquinio.

Phil’s legacy of kindness, community involvement, and familial love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth and generosity touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
