Philip J. Mackay, 73, of Liverpool, passed away on Sunday surrounded by his family after a long battle with Leukemia. Phil was born in North Syracuse on August 1, 1942 to Howard and Ellen Mackay. He was a graduate of North Syracuse High School, class of 1959. Phil was also a member of the 174th Air National Guard. Phil retired from New Process Gear in 2003 after 39 years of service. He and his wife volunteered with the North Area Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed reading, hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family at his summer home in Old Forge.

He is predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Liston.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marjorie (Jones) Mackay; four children, Robert Mackay, Philip "PJ" (Meghan) Mackay, Mary Ellen (Mackay) LeFevre and Matthew (Christina) Mackay; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Tanner, Madeline, Sophia, Fallon, Matthew and Logan; three siblings, Doug Mackay, Don Mackay and Bruce Mackay; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services will follow at 7PM.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society.
