Peter D. Ossevoort, 62, of West Monroe, passed away unexpectedly in his home on February 24, 2024.
Peter was born in Syracuse, New York on September 10, 1961 to Willem and Margaret Ossevoort.
Peter worked at Syracuse University as a groundskeeper for 37 years. Peter was a meticulous worker, taking pride in contributing to the beautiful landscaping of the university. In his free time, Peter loved to work with his hands. From fixing cars to building legos, Peter was passionate about anything he could get his hands on. He loved to share his passions with anyone and everyone who would listen. Affectionately nicknamed "Big Red", Peter could connect with almost anyone, and often would strike up conversations with strangers just to see them smile. Peter was always a kid at heart who never lost his charm and whimsy. Peter was a very caring and loving person and a charismatic husband and father to his wife and kids.
He is survived by his spouse of 33 years, Barbara Ossevoort, two sons, Joseph (Danielle) Ossevoort, Thomas Ossevoort; Grandson, Mason Ossevoort; sister, Sonja Lockwood; two brothers, Robert (Bobbi) Ossevoort, Timothy Ossevoort.
