Peggy M. McDonell, 83, of Cicero, died Tuesday at Loretto Cunningham. She was born in Greig, NY, the daughter of William and Ruth Sweeney. She graduated in 1949 from Faxton Hospital School of Nursing in Utica. She was a Registered Nurse. Peggy lived in Cicero for over 50 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Peggy was predeceased by her oldest son, Michael; sisters, Janet Houppert and Linda Kirshner.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Angus J. McDonell; their daughter, Patricia (Jody) Wenig of Irvington, NY and their two children, Garett and Cara, son, James (Stacey) McDonell of Fairfax VA, and their three children Kate, Joseph and Thomas, daughter, Rose McDonell of Brooklyn, NY and her son Patrick; brothers, Stanley and Bob Sweeney; sisters Irene Gill and Susan Howley; numerous nieces and nephews.

We our thankful to the staff at Cunningham that gave Peggy kind and tender care.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on May 12th, 2012 at 10AM at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero, NY. Burial will follow at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
