Peggy Bailey (83) of Syracuse passed away on August 13, 2015 at Iroquois Nursing Home.

She had endured a long illness with bravery and determination, and rarely complained.

Peggy was born in Sodus, NY, a daughter to the late Marion and John DeVey.

She described herself as being a tomboy when young and could always be found "up some tree". As an adult, she was first a full time mother to 4 children, completed her bachelor's degree in education at SUNY Oswego, then an administrative assistant for many years. She was an adventurous soul and an athlete at heart, enjoying golf, bowling, long walks, water aerobics and softball. She loved the theater, travel and adventures with friends. She was an avid reader, often reading several books in a week.

She was a member of the United Church of Fayetteville and found comfort in their constant support.

Peggy is survived by her sisters Mary Almekinder (Dick) and Barb DeVey, and children Carol Spartano (Rob), Sharon Longo (John), Phil Marsh, Greg Marsh, and grandchildren, Nikki, Dani, Genna, Josh, Leah, Jacob, Paul and Jeff.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 18th at United Church of Fayetteville at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions to the United Church of Fayetteville.
