Pearl E. Babiarz

Pearl E. Babiarz was born on June 5, 1921 and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Kirkville, N.Y., on Feb. 18, 2016.
Survived by her children, Betty Babiarz Buttaccio (Thomas), Frank Babiarz (Patti), Michael Babiarz (Barbara), Dan Babiarz, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her sister Ruth Wygant Ketchum. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; and her son, John.
Pearl was a lifetime resident of Fulton, N.Y. where she practiced nursing as an LPN at Lee Memorial Hospital and also served as a private duty nurse for several years. She was a proud veteran and loved God, her family and her country.
During World War II, Pearl served as a Private First Class in the Women's Army Corps of the United States Army. She worked in Military Intelligence at Arlington Hall Station in Arlington, Va. while her husband Frank (Jan. 7, 1917 to July 18, 1970) served in the European Theater as a member of the United States Army.
Pearl sang for more than 30 years in the "Hamer Sing-A-Long", a group that was started by Mary and Ernie Hamer to provide entertainment and joy to community residents in nursing homes and at numerous celebrations throughout central and upstate N.Y.
Pearl supported many charities and believed in always being positive. She loved Doo-Wop, Dean Martin, and creamy Campbell's Tomato Soup.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse with a service to follow at 7PM. Burial will take place in the spring.
