Ruth M. Barclay

Pearl "Ruth" Marie Barclay, 101, of North Syracuse passed away Tuesday. As a young girl Ruth has the experiences of traveling in a covered wagon and living in an adobe home. In 1926 Ruth married Henry Barclay and they moved to New York State. They resided in the Syracuse area where they raised their 3 children. Henry, and their children, William, Dorothy and Pearl preceded her in death. During her life Ruth was a woman of many talents. She could handle any chore on a farm, package meat as she did at Sweetheart Corners Market for 12 years and take care of the elderly as she did well into her eighties. Ruth's family feels so blessed to have has her as their matriarch. She instilled her beliefs of hard work, determination and faith in the Lord in the generations that survive her.
Ruth is survived by 14 grandchildren, over 25 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be 10 AM on Friday at New Comer Funeral Home, North Syracuse with Pastor Jack Keating officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery, Camden. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 705 N. Main Street.
Contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to PACE of CNY, 100 Malta Lane, North Syracuse, NY 13212. For the past 8 years Ruth has resided at the Malta House in North Syracuse. The family wishes to thank the staff for all the loved and care they have shown her.
