Paul E. Bowker

May 14, 1926 — March 7, 2018

Paul Edward Bowker, 91, went home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2018. He was born in Syracuse, NY and lived most of his life in central New York.

He is predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Norma Jean Voorhees, his mother, Dorothy Bowker, his brother, George E Bowker and his sister, Geraldine Heilman.

Paul was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the infantry in World War II. He received a Purple Heart having been wounded in the Rhineland Campaign.

Paul had a career in the automobile business. He worked for the Burdick Family for 43 years, beginning as a mechanic and eventually becoming Service Director. Paul was a race car enthusiast and built several stock cars for local drivers. He was an avid bowler and loved hunting, camping and golf.

Paul was a member of the Caughdenoy Methodist Church where he served faithfully in the men's ministry and church visitation for many years.

Paul loved spending time with his seven grandchildren: Christina Burtis, Jacquelyn Conover, Adam Bregou, Elizabeth Scottron, Sara Becker, Jennifer Holdeman, and Tony Becker, as well as his fourteen great-grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his two daughters, Linda Bregou (Louis) of Brewerton, NY and Cathy Becker of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by his sister, Genevieve Therre of Liverpool, NY and many nieces and nephews.

During the last six months of his life Paul was a resident at The Cottages Nursing Home in Cicero, New York where he made several friends and was lovingly cared for by the staff. His family is grateful for their attention and hard work on his behalf.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside service will be private. The family requests that donations in Paul's memory be made to North Syracuse Baptist Church, 420 South Main Street, North Syracuse, NY 13212.
