Patrick Irving Taggart

May 14, 1952 — April 18, 2023

It is with great sadness that on April 18th, 2023 Patrick passed away in the care of Oneida Hospital with his loving wife and sister by his side. Throughout his long battle with illness he received numerous visits from loving family.

He was born in Auburn, NY, attended West Genesee High School, and raised his family in North Chittenago.
Patrick spent his career as a machine operator for The New Process Gear factory, being a part of the local 624 Union for over 33 years.

Patrick is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and father figure to all he met. He was compassionate about his Irish heritage and his musical talent.
He enjoyed being a playful man who told fantastical stories of his life's antics. He was a man who could constantly be seen gathering families around a campfire with his guitar.

Patrick was a modest man who underestimated his talents, kindness and generosity which reached all who he encountered, sometimes with the simplest gesture of a meal or a gentle ear to listen, especially, to those who became family throughout the years. Everyday folks who Patrick encountered can remember small gifts of appreciation that he would bring on holidays and special occasions. He always remembered his own humble beginnings, and never hesitated to ensure that everyone was cared for, regardless of their own beginnings.

Being lucky in love, this past St. Patrick's Day, he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with his loving and devoted wife Donna, whom he is survived by.
His memory lives on in his beloved children, Jenifer (Tim) Bowers and Jason (Jeanette) Taggart; his cherished grandchildren, Jade (Richard) Taggart, Ducati (Taylor) Bowers, Piper (Lexie) Bowers & Gary McCarthy. He is also survived by many more great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, cousins; and his adoring sisters, Debbie (Randy) Muncy, Nancy Specht and Gail Ward.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles J. & Kathryn M. Taggart; sisters, Lucy A. O'Donnell and Cheryl Nayaert; and his brothers, Charles W. & Chuck Taggart.

The Taggart family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at Oneida Hospital for their exceptional care given to Patrick in his last month of life, who all performed with compassion, kindness, dignity and grace.
