Norbert Anthony Brefka, aged 90, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on July 29, 2024. Born in Syracuse, NY, on July 18, 1934, Norbert served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean conflict. After his military service, he became a master plumber, working for General Motors and Chrysler, retiring in 1984.
Norbert was a devoted family man, married to his beloved wife Doris for 69 years until her passing in 2021. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Brefka (Jennifer) and Daniel Brefka (Heather); daughter, Valerie; grandchildren, Logan, Madison, McKayla, Noah, Trina, and Justin; and great-grandchild, Aria Tinarose Brefka. He was preceded in death by his son, David Brefka; sister, Eleonor Sirmans, and brothers, Gary, Richard, and Arthur Brefka.
A hardworking individual, Norbert was also an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at the Crossroads, where he participated actively in the community.
There will be no calling hours. The family will hold a private celebration of life dinner. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central New York Chapter.
