Nora Bernice Skoczen

Nora Bernice Skoczen, died peacefully on Friday surrounded by her family. Bernice was born on July 28, 1930 to Frank and Nora Hopkins of Eastwood, the last surviving daughter of 7 children. She graduated from St. Vincent's High School, Class of 1949 and attended Cortland State College.
Surviving are her 6 children; Cynthia (Richard) Kilburn, Bobbi (Tom) Marafino, Deborah (Bill) Sandy, Kathleen (Steven) Hecimovich, Christopher (Virginie) Skoczen, Melissa (Mark) Marzullo. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Amanda & Geoffrey Kilburn, Daniel & Mary Morgan Marafino, Justin & Lindsay Sandy, Alex & Avery Hecimovich, Lukas, Nora, Ben & Zoey Skoczen, Jessica & Ryan Stupp, her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Sova & 2 great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Chet & beloved grandson, Corey Sandy.
Bernice was a devoted and loving mother, active member of her community and much loved Aunt. Along with her husband, she was a founding member of the J.C. Butler Association bringing together sailors from WW II. She traveled extensively and wintered in Myrtle Beach. While she had many jobs and hobbies, her family was the center of her world.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A mass will be held on Tuesday 10am at St. Rose of Lima Church.
