Nino Albanese

Nino Albanese of North Syracuse, New York, crossed the finish line on Sept 14, 2010 with his family at the rail. Preceding him in death were his parents, Dominic and Grazie Albanese, brother Frank Albanese of New Jersey, and sister Frances Bishop of Syracuse. Surviving him include his wife of 58 years, Phylis Jean (nee Palumb), children Nina (John Kotar) of Eau Claire, WI, Dominic of Syracuse, Karen (Drew Campbell) of Columbus, OH, Teresa of Syracuse, Frank (Dory Hart) of Clay, NY, seven grandchildren (Jacob, Sara, Benjamin, Peter, Dominic (Nick), Joseph, and Katerina), and many nieces and nephews.
Nino was born November 22, 1926 in Jamesville, NY. He joined the Marines at age 17 and served in the Pacific in World War II. He was famous for his pizzas at the original Villa Restaurant in Syracuse and at home. He owned and operated Any Cab Co. and ATC Transportation Services in the Syracuse area for over four decades. He was a frequent spectator at Vernon Downs and a lifelong harness racing fan. He was a loving husband and father, and extremely proud of his grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
Services will be 11:30 am Saturday New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Burial will be Private. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10:00 – 11:30 am at the funeral home before services.
