Nicholas John DeStaffan, 60 passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2019. He was born to John and Carmella DeStaffan on December 5, 1958. Born and raised in Camillus, NY.
He was a 1977 graduate of West Genesee High School. Later attended the University of Buffalo and Arizona State University where he received a Bachelors Degree. Years later attended E.S.F., where he received a Masters Degree in Waste Water Engineering.
He was an avid Cowboys fan, loved watching Syracuse sports and his sons playing hockey growing up. There was never a game that he wasn't seen sitting in the stands cheering for his sons. Nicky loved animals, mainly dogs. He loved taking his dog Angie for daily walks. He was known for talking for hours about anything and everything and was always there to give the best advice on any topic.
He would always say the only thing you can take with you after you pass is what you do for others. Nicky was an Organ Donor and hoped that one day someone would be able to receive his "gifts" in hopes that it would help a life.
Nicky firmly believed that its never a goodbye, but a "until we meet again". He will be missed and remembered by many as a loving caring father that would always say he "finally figured it out".
Nicholas is survived by his beloved dog, Angie; loving girlfriend, Shelly Alexander in which he planned to grow old with; sons, Nicholas E. DeStaffan and Carmen F. Gacek; sister, Debby DeStaffan and Nancy (Mike) Macro; nieces, Lauren (Duke) Johnson and Monica (Guy/Dean) Mancini; nephews, Dylan (Julie) Macro; All of which he loved deeply.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to his co-workers for their help in his last moments.
Please join us celebrating his life on Friday, March 1st, 2019 from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse. Service will follow at 7pm. Burial will take place privately, Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
