On Monday, May 4th, 2020, Nicholas Charles passed away at age 99 at the Syracuse VA Medical Center.
He is predeceased by his wife, Helen Charles and son, Richard Charles.
Survived by his grandchildren, Dustin Charles and Carly Woolheater and great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Calvin and Maxwell.
Born in Solvay, NY in 1920, Nick was known as a strong, kind and charming man that made friends easily and built relationships that lasted decades. He retired from Mutual of Omaha as a District Manager, but his life was a rich tapestry of careers, service and endeavors spanning nearly a century. From service in the Army during WWII, to law enforcement to restaurant ownership, he led a storied life filled with friends, family, success, failure, love and loss. He lived his values, teaching us through his example that the most important things in life are the relationships you have with the ones you love. He will always be remembered for his voracious devotion to his family and loyalty to his friends. As he is reunited with the love of his life, Helen, and his treasured son, Rick, those of us left will mourn the loss of this great man from our world, while we celebrate his life and carry the love he had for all of us in our hearts until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be held once the families can safely reunite again.
