Nick was born on March 12, 1945 in Seneca Falls, New York, the son of Nicholas and Rita Berger.
He is survived by his Beautiful Wife Dulce (Maria), two sons Nicholas and Anthony, and three grandchildren Nickolas, Meagan, and Angelina... and an incredible loving family.
How do you write an obituary for such an amazing man?
He spent nine years in the Military as a Proud U.S. Marine, highlighted as a member of the Special Forces during the Vietnam War. Having been injured and forced into retirement, his new civilian life led him to the love of his life, Dulce.
They were attendants at a friend’s wedding in September 1968, fell in love, and were married three months later in December. A love story to the end, they just celebrated their 55th Anniversary.
Although Nick was born in New York, he spent most of his life raising his family in Florida. If there was a mistress in his life, it would have been the ocean. The owner of Flanigan’s once took him to the Bahamas on his boat, and on his dime for the fishing trip of lifetime. If anyone to took to heart that “A bad day of fishing was better than a good day at work”, it was Nick.
He cherished his two sons, but nothing compared to the day he became a Grandfather.
He absolutely loved being called “Grandpa” by his grandson, and “PoP PoP” ……the nickname given to him by his twin granddaughters.
Though he is now in a better place, the world was definitely a better place with him in it.
Never to be forgotten, he will be eternally missed and loved!
Visitation will be held, Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals. There will be a service immediately following at 7:00pm at the funeral home.
