Neal Paul Britner STSCS (SS) Retired, 77, of North Syracuse, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Upstate University Hospital with his wife by his side. Born in Toledo, Ohio on August 13, 1944 to the late Jeanette and Paul Britner. At age 4, his family moved to El Paso, Texas where he lived until he entered the US Navy at age 21. He was a Sonar Tech Submariner for 24 years serving aboard the USS Cincinnati, USS Memphis and the USS Hammerhead. He then worked at EG & G at Lockheed Martin in Syracuse for over 15 years and later for DataCom for several years. He worked part-time for several years at the Syracuse Intergroup Office. He served on the Board of Directors for 7 years at the Wilson House in East Dorset, VT. Neal shared his experience, strength and hope with many for over 37 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Cunningham Council at Sacred Heart Church.
Neal is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Throne); three children, Christopher (Gloria) Britner, Roderick Britner and Stephen (Kascee) Britner; six grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Michael, Hannah, Laila, Amorette and Abigail; four stepchildren, Nancy (Laurie Bailey) Scutt, James (Jennifer) Scutt, Diana Fitzgerald, Penny (Neill) Morrison; seven step-grandchildren, Christine (Paul), Erin (Ethan), Jaime, Rebecca, Nicholas, Cheyenne and Julia; brother, Jerry (Tammy) Britner of Tomball, TX .
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 29th 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 30th 10am at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners.
